YESTERDAY, Hamson’s Trading handed over a cheque for an undisclosed sum to Development Officer of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Troy Yhip, as the union prepares for the Mashramani Schools Under-14 One Day Rugby Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on March 7 at the Rugby Playfield in the National Park with an 11:00hrs kick-off time.
During the handing-over of the cheque by the Store Manager Emilia Nwankwo, she said that her entity was proud to be associated with the tournament and to assist the youths in any way possible. In her brief remarks, she wished the teams and union a successful tournament.
Yhip disclosed that Hamson’s sponsorship covers the entire budget which includes trophies, medals, tents, food and drinks.
According to Yhip, this tournament is a Beginner’s level (tag) tournament that involves five schools, namely; St John’s College, Covent Garden Secondary, North Georgetown Secondary, Marian Academy and Tutorial High.
These are schools that have already participated in previous GRFU school tournaments but no student who participated before is allowed to be a part of this event. Yhip further stated that a tournament in April in on the cards for the students who already graduated from this level.
