38 years user of marijuana fined

TREVOR Forte (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson yesterday, charged with being in possession of a narcotic.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on Thursday, February 21, in Cummings Street, he had one gramme of cannabis sativa (marijuana).
Police Sergeant Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said about 23:00 hrs, the defendant was at the entrance of Merriman Mall, where a search on him yielded the cannabis.
After being questioned by the magistrate, Forte admitted that he has been using marijuana for about 38 years now as medication.
He was fined $5,000 and ordered to do three days of community service, at the Alberttown Police Station, from 13:30 hrs yesterday.
