IAC and ICC to host Evening of Music

THE Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) will host an “Evening of Music” this evening, beginning at 17:30hrs, at the Indian Cultural Centre.

This is part of the ongoing collaborative efforts by the IAC and the ICC to foster aspects of the rich cultural heritage brought to these shores by the nation’s Indian ancestors. The programme will feature a number of talented local artistes presenting various genres of Indian music while students of the ICC will present a classical dance performance.
In addition, the IAC will officially launch its list of activities to mark the 175th anniversary of Indian arrival in Guyana which is being observed in 2013. Presentations are also expected from officials of the Indian High Commission and other organisations.
In the past, both entities collaborated on similar ventures, notably an “Evening of Music” in tribute to the late Indian singing legends, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh Chand Mathur and Kishore Kumar. The late Pandit Shri Prakash Gossai was the featured artiste in a past collaboration.
All are invited and admission is free.
