GFF convenes meeting with GFRC … urged to work together for good of the game

FOLLOWING the recently appointed Referees Committee (RC) as stipulated by the FIFA Referees Regulations, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and members of the RC met with members of the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) at the Ministry of Education Pavilion yesterday morning.

The meeting which was attended by officials from Linden, Berbice, West Demerara, Georgetown and East Coast sought to update the members on the respective roles and functions of the various entities including the Referees Department.
GFF President (ag) Franklin Wilson who is Chairman of the RC along with GFF General Secretary Noel Adonis give detailed outlines on the roles, responsibilities and functions of the various entities reminding the membership that the key to their continued success is working as a cohesive unit under one umbrella body.
Members were also given the opportunity to ask questions on matters of concern to them. Many were asked and answered.
It was the considered view of all that in this new dispensation, and with the RC now a part of the whole, it will take some time for the smooth flow of the three entities.
Those officials making the FIFA 2013 List were congratulated by Wilson for their achievement while reminding them that they are the flag-bearers and standard-setters for the others to follow. He also encouraged the other officials to continue aiming for high standards by being committed to their training on and off the field of play.
Like the other affiliates of the GFF, the GFRC, recognised by the federation’s constitution will be holding their AGM and elections shortly.
Meanwhile, a Beginners Referees Course is set to take place from February 15 to 17, with the Fitness Test being held on the 16th.
