Big plans in pipeline for #63 Beach –but electricity and roads need improvement

IMRAN Sacoor of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has indicated his pleasure with efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce to rehabilitate the Number 63 Beach.

altSacoor revealed that to further assist with improvement of the beach, a new board, comprised of BCCI members and members of the other chambers in the Corentyne, was being formed as per discussion at a meeting with the ministry sometime last week; and he is pleased that the BCCI as well as the other chambers in the Corentyne each has a seat on that board.
He said that, in summary, the Tourism Ministry has made the # 63 beach into something that Berbicians should digilently care, and if one looks at it from a Berbician’s perspective, there aren’t many places to go for leisure activities on a weekend.
Sacoor noted that the beach is a whole lot more than just a matter of sand and water. He said the private sector has a plan that involves an economic activity to enhance the surroundings of the # 63 beach, in order to make it a better tourist destination, but electricity has to be installed and roads have to be improved for the plan to ultimately succeed.
Sacoor explained that the BCCI and the private sector are looking forward to having greater collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the # 63 Beach Committee to make possible the plan he had alluded to.
