In murder case PI… Lawyer gives notice of constitutional motion against ruling

MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo, on Monday, denied  an application to have the statement of Prosecution witness Ravindra Persaud given to Defence Counsel Mursulene Bacchus.

As a result, the lawyer gave notice, in New Amsterdam Court, that he will move a constitutional motion against the magistrate.
The ruling was made during the preliminary inquiry  (PI) into the murder charge against United States (U.S.) based Ramdhanie Persaud alias ‘Prank’, who is accused of murdering his wife, Bibi Shamena Deen called Sharmilla.
The killing, allegedly, took place at their family home on March 20 last, in New Area, East Canefield, Canje, also in Berbice.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Persaud, a 13-year-old eyewitness is the biological son of the accused and the deceased.
The case, which has been transferred to Reliance Court, Canje, will continue on October 31.
