Shifting the focus

AS A Guyanese, I would say I am a pretty reasonable person with basic commonsense. But what has me beaten is the Linden protest. I understood that this protest was against the proposed hike in electricity. It seems that tremendous progress has been made on this issue due to the protest.
The increased cost for power has been put on hold, for just over a week now, and both sides have agreed that a technical committee would work on the issues to the satisfaction of both parties.
Reason would indicate that the protest would now come to an end.
So it now puzzles me that the protest is still continuing. Why?
Now, using my commonsense, I would figure out that the protest was never about the increased cost of electricity in the first place.
Following the issue closely, I am seeing quite clearly that Mr. Sharma Solomon, Region 10 Chairman is controlling the protest, and there seems to be some other ulterior motive behind it.
I would now advise Lindeners to speak out against the continued bullying by Solomon for protests to continue. They should not allow themselves to be held hostage to Solomon’s sinister hidden agenda. So much harm has already been done on the economic front of the Region.
Once the flame is lit, events have a way of overtaking even those that stoked the fire in the first place. If Lindeners do not speak out now, Solomon will overwhelm them with a number of severe consequences that they had not intended in the first place.
It is time for Lindeners to take Solomon to task about his fixation on continuing with the protest when much has already been gained, and the people of Linden should now focus on repairing the damage which has resulted.
Lindeners should beware of Solomon’s adamant declaration that there will be no return to normalcy for Linden and its residents. It is time for Lindeners to take their town back from Solomon.
