Linden shooting deaths… CRIME CHIEF NOT AWARE OF UK EXPERT HELP

CRIME Chief, Seelall Persaud said, yesterday, he has not been made aware of any requests or instructions since Alliance for Change (AFC) Executive Member, attorney-at-law, Mr. Nigel Hughes said, last Friday, that the services of a United Kingdom (UK) forensic expert had been secured to assist with the ballistic testing of the metal fragments recovered from the bodies of the three dead Linden protestors. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said all he knows is what was published in some sections of the media but, so far, the tests have not been done and the objects are in the possession of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Ballistics Department.
The results would be revealed once the analyses are complete, he assured.
Hughes had announced that Dr. Mark Robinson was willing to observe the process spearheaded by the GPF and conduct his own and Acting Police Commissioner, Leroy Brumell was since written to seeking his permission and his response it awaited.
The AFC had previously got Trinidadian pathologist, Professor Hubert Daisley to witness the post mortem on the bodies of Shemroy Bouyea, Allan Lewis and Ron Somerset, by Guyana Government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Those examinations revealed that the men were all shot through the heart with ‘bronze capped’ lead bullets during a protest exercise in which hundreds took to the streets more than a week ago, protesting the increased electricity tariff in Linden.
