President accepts Sattaur’s resignation as NCN’s CEO

– Goolsaran suspended
HIS Excellency President Donald Ramotar, in his capacity as Minister of Information, has accepted the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Communications Network (NCN), Mr Mohamed Sattaur.
Mr. Sattaur’s resignation takes effect from today June 30, 2012.
Meanwhile, NCN’s Programme Manager Mr. Martin Goolsarran has been suspended for eight weeks on his own admission of engaging in financial
irregularity.
The entity’s Editor-in-Chief, Michael Gordon is acting as CEO.
Sattaur, yesterday, tendered his resignation as CEO of NCN after an audit confirmed financial irregularities within the state-owned television company.
The ‘irregularities’ were brought to light after the Board of Directors of NCN last month launched an investigation into the entity’s operation, after Sattaur presented a proposal which sought to recover the Gy$140M subsidy slashed from the 2012 budget.
Sattaur came under the microscope after he publicly declared during the budget season that the company raked in some Gy$500M from advertisements in 2011.
