In Region Three…

Administration will also repair outside of CRIP roads
REGIONAL Executive Officer in Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara), Mr. Donald Gajraj said, yesterday, that a number of roads which fall outside of its Community Road Improvement Project (CRIP) will also be repaired.
He told the Guyana Chronicle, via telephone, that repairs will be done to those in need, but not captured under CRIP, from the Region’s budget or by the Public Works Department.
Some can be found at Maria’s Lodge, Canals Number One and Two, Philadelphia, Stewartville, Naamless, Leguan, Patentia, De Kendren and Hogg Island.
Gajraj said the Region’s capital works programme will begin within a week’s time. Though that was not severely affected through the recent budget cuts by the Parliamentary Opposition, the One Laptop per Family (OLPF) initiative and the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) would, ultimately, suffer from the reductions.
Meanwhile, Regional Chairman, Julius Faerber had told this newspaper that, under the CRIP, three roads were slated to be repaired at Uitvlugt; eight at Met-en-Meerzorg East and nine in Met-en-Meerzorg West, all on the West Coast of Demerara.
The targets are Estate Road, Bruder Street, Side Line Dam and Venezuelan Housing Scheme at Uitvlugt; First Cross Street, Stewartville; Gap Road and Third Cross Street, La Jalousie; Back Street, Groenveldt; Sea View Road, Hague; London Alley and NPR in Den Amstel, all on West Coast Demerara; Station Street, Vergenoegen and Silk Cotton Dam, Zeelugt, both on East Bank Essequibo; Clarke Dam and Singh and Murphy Streets, Sisters Village and Belle Vue Main Road, First Street, La Grange and First Street, Patentia, all on West Bank Demerara.
