Day of Interaction launch set for Sunday at Anna Regina

THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission will launch the Day of Interaction 2012 this Sunday. All roads will lead to the Anna Regina Community Centre ground where about 1 000 athletes and officials will be involved in a number of sport disciplines including softball cricket, football, volleyball, circle tennis, dominoes, table tennis, basketball.
The opening ceremony will include remarks by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Dr Frank Anthony, Director of Sport  Neil Kumar, Regional Chairman . Parmanand Persaud and other regional and political functionaries.
As is the practice, there will be adequate security and medical presence.
The Day of Interaction is expected to be non-alcoholic.  Hence, there will be no selling or consumption of alcohol during the activities at the venue.
At the completion of the activities, there will be presentation of trophies to the winning communities and individuals.
There will also be donations of sports gear and equipment to the region to assist with the development of sports in the various communities.
Minister Anthony will also take the opportunity to visit several Community Centres and playing areas so as to make more playing space available to the people in Essequibo especially the youths.
