Utility pole snapped by speeding car

-driver and another occupant flee the scene
SPEEDING yesterday morning caused a motor car PNN 7896, a Premio to run off the highway at Houston, in the vicinity of Republic Park’s Turn, East Bank Demerara, snapping a utility pole resulting in electrical and telephone wires to litter the roadway impeding the free flow of traffic.

It is unclear how the accident happened but reports said that shortly after 10:30 hrs the driver of the car, who was reportedly speeding, lost control which resulted in the vehicle running off the roadway into the path of the utility pole and breaking it.
The driver and an occupant reportedly fled the vehicle after the crash and abandoned the car, but a visible pool of blood was observed on the road suggesting that the driver or the occupant may have received injuries as a result of the accident.
The car was later taken to the Ruimveldt Police Station and lodged there pending investigations.
