Essequibo man commits suicide

– Reliance community rocked by fourth suicide in four weeks
A MINER, 45, of Reliance, on the Essequibo Coast,  hanged himself last weekend.
Reports said Rahim Abdool, a father of four young children, ended his life in tragic circumstances Saturday night because of domestic problems with his wife.
He used to work in the interior with a gold-mining company as a machine operator and returned home Good Friday after several weeks on the job.
Apparently glad to be with his family for the Easter weekend, since his return, he celebrated with friends by consuming alcohol almost every day.
However, there were quarrels between him and his wife, Deoranie, last Saturday and she went to spend the night at her mother’s home, allegedly  after being threatened by him.
It is reported that Abdool was found hanging from a piece of rope in the lower flat of the building where he was living, because he believed his wife had moved out of their matrimonial home.
His lifeless body was discovered by his father-in-law, Ramnarine Bissoon and the police, who were summoned, arrived on the scene promptly and began investigations.
Over the past four weeks, three other persons, also from Reliance, have committed suicide.
