This road needs to be repaired

PLEASE allow me some space in your letters column to highlight the deterioration of the Canal # 1 access road. Since the opening of La Parfaite Harmonie housing scheme a few years ago, the Canal # 1 access road has seen a significant increase in vehicular traffic by minibuses that ply the Georgetown to La Parfaite Harmonie route, private cars, taxis, and trucks that bring in building materials to the scheme.
Also, farmers use tractors and trailers to bring out their sugar cane from Canal #1 to the sugar factory at Wales. With this increase in vehicular traffic taking place on this main access road it has started to deteriorate in different areas, mostly to the sides of the road.
Some small holes have now become large and are getting larger daily with the heavy traffic that traverses this road. The heavy rains at the moment make the situation even worse, as many drivers try to avoid these holes and would swerve out suddenly into the path of oncoming vehicles. This is dangerous, especially for drivers who are not familiar with the road.
As a resident, I am asking that the relevant authorities look into this situation quickly and have the bad patches fixed as soon as possible.
Editor, the NDC responsible for this area should take note and make arrangements to improve this situation.
