In death probe…

Liver samples taken from Berbice Mash teen victim
GOVERNMENT Pathologist, Dr. Vivikanand Brijmohan has removed samples from the liver of deceased Keisha Thompson, who died on the road in Berbice last week.
That was done after the organ was found to be infected during a post mortem examination at the New Amsterdam Hospital mortuary on Monday.
It was reported, to the Guyana Chronicle, that the teenage student of Berbice Educational Institute may have been suffering from a condition but was not under medical supervision and the liver was masked with inflammation.
Her mother, Doris Sharples disclosed that her daughter had previously experienced bouts of unconsciousness but the problem was not treated seriously.
However, detectives are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death after she was found lying motionless along Main Street, New Amsterdam, in the vicinity of the Guinness Bar, during the Mashramani revelry.
Revellers picked up the 15-year-old and placed her to lie on a table within the ‘hang out spot’ but, after attempts to revive her failed, they alerted police on mobile patrol, who took the teen to hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms. Harper said, on February 22, she had sent her daughter to purchase kerosene oil but, minutes later, she received a telephone call, from a hospital official, that her child was involved in an accident.
She said she went to the institution and her daughter was released into her care, despite being informed that the latter had been hit by a motor car.
The distraught woman admitted that she had, earlier, allowed her daughter to go and view the Mashramani costumes and floats, with an older sibling, Marissa. However, the elder released the younger sister into the care of classmates.
