PPP/C deeply saddened at passing of Williams

– says he was an exemplary figure in working beyond the borders of political loyalty in advancing interest of the nation
THE People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) said it is deeply saddened at the passing of Deputy Mayor of Georgetown, Mr. Robert Williams.
Mr. Williams who has been involved in politics for a number of decades was an exemplary figure in working beyond the borders of political loyalty in advancing the interest of the nation.
According to the PPP/C, this was clearly illustrated over the past few years when as Deputy Mayor of Georgetown he worked closely with the PPP/C Government to address the challenges at City Hall and more specifically negotiated several emergency interventions by Central Government to address the inadequacies of management.
As a Commissioner on the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Mr. Williams took principled positions on matters of vital national interest.
The PPP/C also noted that Williams was “one of the leading voices inside City Hall towards improving the management of our Capital City (and) will surely be missed along with his exemplary work as a GECOM Commissioner, among his many other endeavours during his long and distinguished career.”
The PPP/C said it wishes to express sincere condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of Mr. Robert Williams.
