GEA secures two more convictions for illegal fuel

THE Guyana Energy Agency (GEA), on Friday last, through Special Prosecutor, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Gino Persaud, secured two more convictions at the Leguan Magistrates’ Court in a verdict handed down by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.
Three defendants –  Indranie aka Barbara, Francis Dabedin and Roopchan Charles were previously charged jointly for the offence of being in possession of illegal petroleum. 
Charles also faced an additional charge of `Dealing in illegal petroleum’. 
Indranie and Francis Dabedin were found guilty of being in possession of illegal petroleum and fined $500,000 or nine months imprisonment, while Charles was discharged after the magistrate upheld a no case submission made by his attorney.
Indranie and Dabedin were not in court when Magistrate Mc Gusty handed down her decision.  (GINA)
