Guyanese continue to receive shabby treatment at Trinidad

IT’s so sad reading yet again how Caribbean Airlines passengers are being treated.
Watch Caribbean Airlines pass on this cost to passengers in no time to recover their loss.

The Trinidad Express reported that the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) yesterday fined State carrier Caribbean Airlines Ltd (CAL) US$60,000 for limiting reimbursements for lost, damaged and delayed baggage to less than what consumers were entitled to under an international treaty.
Last year on my trip to Guyana I noticed my suitcase was punctured. I pointed this out to  a female employee who checked my luggage and she directed me to where I should make a report.
I was there for more than half an hour waiting for someone to come and take my report but no one showed up, so I gathered my luggage and left.
This year my luggage arrived without damage, but the hassle of going through three security checks before finally settling in your seat in the aircraft is nerve racking for some.
When I heard that Guyanese passengers will have a special lounge set up for them in Trinidad I knew what was to come.
They in Trinidad do not want Guyanese to be seen and heard especially since October 24, 2011 of going through three Trini security checks before seating.
I even had to ask the air hostess if I would be security checked before I sit in my seat. She laughed and said NO.
I am urging the Government of Guyana to please negotiate direct flights to and from Toronto / Georgetown sooner rather than later, especially now that Christmas is not far away.
Please do not allow law biding Guyanese to be seen as criminals in the eyes and minds of Trinidadians and Caribbean Airlines officials.
