GHRA lost critical pieces of information in its slumber

EVERY now and again the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA) comes out of its seizure and pronounces on matters which it believes will shed bad light on the government. The most recent pronouncement from the association related to the recent award of $6.5M to the tortured teen by Justice Roxanne George.
The GHRA has lost critical pieces of information in its slumber and the fact that government was the first to express outrage at the act seems to have slipped its notice. Government not only condemned and expressed outrage at the act alone but it ensured that the matter was investigated and those found culpable were dealt with forthright.
Further, the Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Priya Manickchand, in her condemnation of the ‘horrific’ act said that it was criminal whilst reiterating the government’s commitment to providing an environment where children can thrive and their talents given an opportunity to flourish.
The GHRA and others, who often say that the current government is a dictatorship, should also note the level of independence demonstrated by the Court when it awarded $6.5M to victim which comes at the expense of the State. This act goes against their accusations.
