Sunday murder suspect to make Court appearance soon

– Crime Chief
THE man suspected of stabbing to death his live-in lover, Seema Singh, is still in police custody and is likely to make a Court appearance shortly, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud indicated yesterday.
The 30-year-old victim, formerly of Richmond Village, Essequibo Coast, was murdered at the Mahaica, East Coast Demerara home, where she was living.

She succumbed to stab wounds at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) while undergoing surgery there midday on Sunday.
The police reported that she was stabbed about 05:45hrs at Helena Number One, Mahaica and investigations revealed that she had a domestic misunderstanding with her reputed husband, during which he is alleged to have fatally stabbed her about the body.
The killer was arrested by a policeman as he was exiting the yard.
Reports said Singh, a mother of two had left her Essequibo home earlier this year, after her relationship with a man soured and was working in Suriname.
As news of her killing circulated, her relatives were shocked because they did not know she had a resident relationship with another man.
The latter was described as violent and had been released, this year, from jail where she had met him while visiting her husband, who was incarcerated at the time.
For 2011, so far, 10 women, victims of domestic violence, were killed by their spouses and lovers.
