Man jailed over objection to wife’s relationship

PATRICK Allicock, of Lot 43 William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a charge of assaulting his wife, Sandra Allicock.
He was also sentenced to 14 days imprisonment for threatening his wife’s friend, Cheryl Greaves, on the same May 25.

Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded guilty to both charges and told the Court he had made his wife know that people in the area are talking about her relationship with Greaves.
He said his wife denied it but, later in the day, he caught her talking on the phone with Greaves.
Allicock said, when he confronted his wife, she seemed afraid and kept holding on to him but all he did was push her away.
He admitted taking the phone away from his wife and telling Greaves that, if she ever comes around his house, he would murder her.
The magistrate entered a not guilty plead on the assault charge after listening to him and sent him on remand until June 6 but imposed the prison sentence on him for the threat.
