EUSI Sandy (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on drug trafficking charges. He pleaded not guilty to having 50 grammes cannabis (marijuana) and a half a gramme of cocaine for the purpose on May 8.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said ranks on mobile patrol saw the defendant acting in a suspicious manner but he ran away when they approached him.
However, when he was caught later, a search of his person yielded the narcotics in his pants crotch.
The prosecutor, in his successful objection to bail for Sandy, disclosed that he has other cases pending.
Sandy returns to court on May 17.
