Hundreds pack Club Tobago for PPP/C meeting

…they congratulate President Jagdeo for progress in all sectors across Guyana
New York – The Peoples Progressive Party/Civic Government, led by President Bharrat Jagdeo and Political Advisor and Presidential Candidate of the PPP/C Mr. Donald Ramotar, were warmly received at a meeting hosted last evening at Club Tobago in Queens, New York.
Hundreds packed the hall, representing a wide cross-section of mainly overseas- based Guyanese who came out to offer their support to the visiting delegation. The success of the event was further underscored by the attendance of NY City Hall officials and other political leaders. Several of the individuals in attendance, some of whom hail from Queens, and others from Brooklyn, remarked that they came to the meeting to congratulate President Jagdeo and his visiting delegation for the progress in all sectors across Guyana, which they have observed first-hand during their visits back home over the past few years. They also encouraged their fellow countrymen to not fall prey to those who want to destabilise Guyana’s continued growth for their narrow political agendas, pointing to the fact that they were impressed that Guyana was able to withstand the effects of the global financial crisis and still find the means to further consolidate its development.

The success of the encounter, which was still ongoing at the time of the issuing of this bulletin, also put paid to efforts by extremist opposition elements who have been calling for support over the past few days to disrupt the proceedings with their anti-government/anti-progress messages.

However, this plan failed horribly, as apart from the packed audience, no attempt was made to disrupt the meeting.

Some of the other attendees remarked that it clearly illustrates the mass popularity and support the ruling party enjoys as it prepares for the upcoming general elections.
