Husband in indecent assault case restrained from home

RAMSZIR Boodhoo, who is charged with indecently assaulting his reputed wife in the presence of their school age children, has been ordered to stay 300 yards from the virtual complainant. In addition, he is to remove from the home which the couple shared at Shieldstown, pending the determination of the case which has been transferred to the Blairmont Court, also on the West Bank of Berbice, on April 4.
Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, before whom the defendant appeared at New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice, put Boodhoo on $10,000 bail and warned him that, if the set conditions are breached, they will be punishable with imprisonment.
The allegedly assaulted woman, a mother of three, told the court she is afraid of her husband because of previous incidents of abuse.
Police Corporal Sherlock King, prosecuting, had, unsuccessfully, objected to pre-trial liberty for Boodhoo, on the ground that he would tamper with his spouse.
The prosecutor said, on March 3, the virtual complainant was at the home she shared with the defendant, when he, under the influence of alcohol, slapped her in the face and inserted his finger in her vagina. (Jeune Bailey Vankeric)
