HOUSEWIFE Denise Fortune was yesterday remanded to prison on a drug trafficking charge.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on March 19, she had 416 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in her possession for the purpose.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said ranks were carrying out a routine patrol in North West District when they observed the defendant acting in a suspicious manner and a search of her person yielded the illegal substance in her handbag.
Fortune will make her next appearance at Matthews Ridge Court, also in North West District, on May 3.
