Mistakenly refused abduction accused granted bail

ACTING Chief Justice Ian Chang has granted $100,000 bail to abduction accused Keith Ross, who was previously refused.
Ross, a surveyor, jointly charged with Winston Collins, Mitchell Benn, Marlon Abel and Derrick Seetaram, had appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at Albion Court, Corentyne.

The others, except Abel, who was released on his own recognisance, were allowed pre-trial freedom, each on $20,000 surety but Ross was remanded to prison.
In the petition on which Justice Chang acted, father of the accused, Keith Ross(Snr), said an application was made for grant in the New Amsterdam High Court but it was denied after State prosecutor Dionne Mc Cammon told Justice Franklyn Holder that the younger Ross had two robbery under arms cases pending.
However, that statement was mistakenly made, as those matters were discharged for want of prosecution, the supporting attestation said.
