Cabinet commends GPL, GPF for their performance during festive season

THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) were among a number of state agencies that received commendations from Cabinet for notable performances during the 2010 Christmas season.
This was announced by Head of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS) Dr. Roger Luncheon at a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President yesterday.
According to Dr. Luncheon, GPL was commended for its performance in maintaining a decent level of service during the festive season.

He added that Cabinet also used the opportunity to urge the corporation to fast track the introduction and the operationalising of the new generating plant to be procured and the upgrading of the grid and the construction of the sub-station and transmission line on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD).
Cabinet, he said, recalled mentioning the WCD intervention as being one of the priority areas.
The GPF was also commended for its role in maintaining peace, public order and suitable levels of security during the Christmas season while the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) was praised for presenting a “sensitive nostalgic face to Guyanese returning home for Christmas.”
