MEETING WITH NDIA COMMITTEE AND CHIEF DRAFTSMAN, MINISTRY OF LEGAL AFFAIRS: UPDATE ON MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF REGION TWO CONSERVANCIES

Mr. Cecil Dhurjon, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Ministry of Legal Affairs
The NDIA Committee met with Mr. Cecil Dhurjon, Chief Parliamentary Council to discuss whether there should be regulation or an Act of Parliament.
NOTE: It was decided by consensus that there should be an Act of Parliament after clarifications were given by Mr. Dhurjon. However, Mr. Dhurjon advised that there could be an Advisory Council or Committee in place to oversee the management and operation of the conservancies in the meantime. The Committee/Council can be made up of the same eleven (11) members who would be Board members when the law is established. This was agreed upon.
Mr. Seepersaud is to discuss this further with the Honourable Minister.
