Ameila’s Ward phase three earmarked for about 1000 more houselots

– 75% cleared
MINISTER of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, on Saturday visited the Ameila’s Ward phase three location at Linden, Region Ten to check on the development of the area.
The 200-acre area is about 75% cleared and is being done at a cost of $14M. The $1B project would cater for 1000 houselots.
Three contractors will be working simultaneously so that the area would be ready by March/April next year.
Minister Ali stated that the area falls under the Low Income Settlement 11 programme, and the design and layout of the area has already been planned. This includes the final surveys, levelling and the engineering designs.
“We are hoping to have the engineering designs for the area ready by mid-December so that we could advertise for this project before the end of December,” he pointed out.
He said the project is a 200 foot buffer zone away from the Linden/Soesdyke highway, which will create a natural barrier from the highway, as the future expansion of the Linden/Lethem trail the area will become a very active high volume area, thus the zone is necessary.
Minister Ali also highlighted that the tendering process will commence before the end of the year. (GINA)
