Several women seriously injured in separate accidents

BIBI Fieza Alli, 50, is currently a patient at the Georgetown Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after being struck down by a speeding motor car on the Nabaclis Public Road, East Coast Demerara, on Saturday.
She suffered multiple injuries including a dislocated right shoulder and lacerations to the head and back.
Having experienced difficulty breathing, she was immediately placed on oxygen.
Alli recalled that shortly after 09:00 hours she left her home at Haslington and was en route to a money transfer facility at Golden Grove, when the accident happened. She said she was crossing the Nabaclis Public Road when she saw a bus approaching. The woman recalled that the bus slowed down to allow her to cross, but a speeding motor car overtook the bus and ploughed into her.
The driver of the motor car stopped, picked her up and transported her to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the GPHC where she was treated and admitted to the Female Surgical Ward.
Meanwhile, also warded and recovering at the facility is 35-year old Ms. Vanessa Harr , a mother of four, who, on September 23 was injured in an accident on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway. She sustained injuries to the head and right arm.
Ms. Harry reasoned that it was a freak accident. She was travelling along the highway in a Tundra driven by her husband when, around05:00 hours, the vehicle developed a mechanical defect and began swaying from side to side. It toppled about three times, she recalled, at the end of which her right arm was pinned under the vehicle. Two Brazilian nationals were also travelling in the vehicle and also suffered injuries. The Brazilian woman suffered a fractured hip, while her male partner was less hurt.
They were rescued by a passing Guyana Defence Force vehicle and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where they received initial treatment and were later transferred to the GPHC.  For several days Harry was unable to walk, and her face remained swollen.  She is scheduled to have corrective surgery done to her arm within a fortnight.
