VIOLENCE against women is one of the most destructive manifestations of gender inequity that has ever evolved. It’s a serious problem and is linked to strong patriarchal traditions and male dominance in daily life. No matter what country women around the world live in, no matter what religion they belong to, or what age they are, they have at least one thing in common: They are potential victims of violence.
Violence against women is a global issue and it’s an integral part of this global experience. The elimination of violence against women and children requires a national solidarity, a coalition of individuals and organisations. There are pastors, pandits, imams; these religious leaders should become a viable voice to stop violence against women and children.
Too many women and children are being exploited globally. Women and children are being abused not by strangers but by the very persons who are supposed to be protecting and loving them. Violence against women continues to be a growing problem. Violence against women and children hurts “everyone”. When a female is beaten or raped, it hurts all of us. We need to put a stop to this! What will it take for us all to say “Enough!”? We will not tolerate this anymore!  We are all hoping for the best and the future of our children.
The funny thing is we are neither helpless nor powerless, we can do something about it, and we all must stand in solidarity to stamp this practice out.
