Noise nuisance persists during shows at Starlite

WITH sarcastic thanks to Starlite’s proprietor and the sponsor, King’s Jewellery, for the noise misery on Sunday September 26, 2010, maybe we should also thank the sitting magistrate and the police department at Sparendaam also for granting permission.

Our Sunday was demolished by the noise makers posing as curry duck competitors.  From 12 noon it was testing, thumping and slamming, and from 2 pm it was all hell breaking loose until 10 pm.  By some ridiculous imagination, the sponsor believes he is helping culture.  Where and how?  I believe he enjoys the noise and has fun disturbing others.  Why not keep it in front of his home.  How would he like for me to play noisy nonsense in front his home for 10 hours.  He would want me arrested.

This is a time career people and us disciplined and hardworking business people wish to rest a bit to recharge and refresh.  On Monday morning, with neighbours in Atlantic Gardens, we are beaten, broken and tired, with headaches.  Throughout the show from 12 noon to 10 pm, my wife suffered a major migraine and even vomited.  Migraines cause this.  When the show was finished our heads were pulsating, and we could no longer sleep.

Those who were the revellers, the rum drinkers, and the so-called merry-makers were at it, dancing and whining, eating duck and drinking drum, they go home, and the performers, take Monday off.  I called a senior organiser of the show, and learnt that he will not be at work today, he is too tired, he can afford to rest.  The musicians and performers can afford to sleep, and the sound system owner made their money and can also sleep. But we have to suffer.

Noise! Noise! At anytime it disturbs anyone it is illegal and criminal in the sight of the law.  I sometimes wonder if the magistrates who give these permits compromise themselves or are bereft of sense.  In July Starlite Drive Inn had four shows, even twice on one weekend!

How can children study?  How can we rest, how can the old and those with heart ailment take the constant banging in the earth and the air, the base is vibrating.  Even some ridiculous parents took children, a little child got lost in all that noise and alcohol.  The parents should be charged.

Sounds scientifically hurt the hearing system, and these lifestyles impress our young minds to like these things, so rum business and noise business are guaranteed, by addicting the youths.

Are the promoters, and even this one, bereft of sense, can they not have a show for say three or four hours in discipline.  They think that allowing visitors to perform is treating the public, how foolish, if only the promoter could realise his words.

My own mother-in-law who lives with me suffer heart ailments, many students cannot study and experience migraines.  Many with property to rent suffer because elegant renters refuse to rent in the area.  He has to seek medical help overseas but is fine for his shows, amazing! Some people and lawyers play with the law and the magistrates.

Now another show is already being marketed for “glow Madness’ in November, with the loudest sound system in the world.  For a small area like Atlantic Gardens why do they need a sound system that is the loudest in the world?  Maybe it is a conspiracy to make people deaf and mad, and the Government of Guyana has to foot the medical bills when people become sick.
