Region Five set for transformation

-Minister Irfaan Ali
HOUSING and Water Minister Irfaan Ali is of the view that Region 5, Mahaica/Berbice is set for transformation.
The Minister made this observation as Cabinet took its outreach to that region yesterday.
According to Minister Ali, with the technical institute being constructed, youths will be afforded the skills crucial to development.

The residents of Bath Settlement and surrounding communities got a chance to interact with the Minister as he walked around the communities in an effort to listen to the concerns of the people.

With agriculture being the source of income for most residents, the primary concern was the condition of the farm to market roads, a problem Minister Ali promised to have rectified in the immediate short term.

Residents with water and housing issues had them resolved on the spot, as accompanying the Minister were a host of resource persons from the Housing Ministry, including Permanent Secretary Emil Mc Garrell, and personnel from Guyana Water Inc., Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, Ministry of Agriculture and regional officials.

Minister Ali said that he is excited about the future of the region, but cautioned residents that development comes incrementally, even as the PPP/C government strives for the betterment of all Guyanese.
The Minister pointed to the recently commissioned well at De Hoop, Mahaica, as testimony to government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life of its people.
He urged the residents to be more proactive with their particular endeavours, as this is what ultimately improves governance.
