Judge grants bail to carnal knowledge accused

JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds, in the Berbice High Court, yesterday granted a bail petition, on behalf of carnal knowledge accused Deochand Anatram and set surety for him at $150,000.
In addition, at the request by State Prosecutor Dionne Mc Cammon, the judge ordered Anatram to make no contact with the virtual complainant.
The petitioner, Nadine Needhe, of Lot 72 Sheet Anchor, East Canje, said, in a supporting affidavit, that she shares a common law relationship with the accused and they, together, have eight children, ranging in age from 13 to two years.
The alleged victim, a girl under the age of 15 years, lives in close proximity to the accused, but Needhe undertook that the minor would be sent to relatives at West Coast Berbice, to avoid being in contact with the accused.
