Claimed tumor sufferer jailed, fined for marijuana

A MAN who claimed he uses cannabis (marijuana) to ease the pain from a tumor on his face was yesterday sentenced to three years imprisonment.
In addition, Dea Teixeira (no address given) was fined $30,000 by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, after pleading guilty to possession of the narcotic.

Particulars of the offence said, on April 29, the prisoner had six and a half grammes of the prohibited substance.
Police Inspector Joel Ricknauth, prosecuting, said Edwards was stopped and searched and he was found with a blue plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems of the drug.
