MANY inspirational and revolutionary events that occurred in history usually began with a depressing state-of-affair and one person who had vision, strength and in some cases dedicated supporters. When we think about individuals who would have changed the course of events in harsh times names like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr would come to mind. These bold men fought for peace in a non-violent manner and altered the world in more ways than one.
Today, there are many men of honour who stand for the revolutionary approach to contribute positively to this interconnected world. One of them is none other than our President, Bharrat Jagdeo. His dedication to change the world’s approach to deforestation and carbon emission is by far one of the most commendable endeavours.
Our President’s vision is not just limited to Guyana but it is an international one that seeks to adapt and mitigate to climate change. I must say, that he is truly a world hero in all respects, for his cause has life changing effects on every citizen of the world.
Individuals, whether they are from Iceland, Guyana, North America and any other part of the globe should take a leaf from President’s Jagdeo’s low carbon approach so that they too can assist in fighting climate change.
On this note, I must extend congratulations to His Excellency for a work well done that allowed him the opportunity to win the United Nations’ highest award for environmental leadership.
Also, I am of the opinion the United Nations also needs to be congratulated for recognising our President’s dedication to climate change.
