Scottsburg United retain Bier Singh Memorial trophy

… donates $125 000 to CWC Mandir
LAST Sunday at the Crabwood Creek Cricket ground fans witnessed three exciting softball matches held as a fundraising event for the CWC Sanatan Mandir.
In the first match Crabwood Creek Heroines defeated defending champions Corriverton Queens for the Prakash Singh Memorial Trophy.
Corriverton Queens batting first made 98 all out in 14.3 overs, with captain Christine Matherson top-scoring with 36.
Bowling for Crabwood Creek Heroines Tanesha Leonard took 2 for 11 and Tasha Leonard 1 for 9 off their allotted three overs.
Crabwood Creek Heroines in reply made 101 for 1 in 13.2 overs with Tanesha Leonard hitting 6 sixes and 3 fours on her way to 64 not out.

She was well supported by Munesha Parsram 19 not out. Sherry Zaleel took the only wicket to fall for 21 runs off 3 overs.
$20 000 was given to the Crabwood Creek Heroines for winning the match by Pawan Taxi Service of No.72 Village Corentyne, while $5 000 was donated to the best batters of each side by Kesh Harryprashad of Crabwood Creek.
In the second match the Floodlights A defeated last year’s winner Vishnu Superstore. Vishnu superstore batted first and made 137 for 8 off their 20 overs, Michael Dan top-scoring with 49 and Vibert Dan made 20. Ramchand Ragbeer took 2 for 17 and Mike Singh 3 for 27 off their allotted 4 overs.
Floodlights A after a slow start got to their target in 18.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Richard Persaud made 37, Ricky Deonarain 28 not out and man-of-the-match Wayne Jones 32 not out. Best bowler for Vishnu Superstore was H. Ganess 1 for 13 and Fabian Seeraj 1 for 27.
In the third match Scottsburg United defeated Floodlight B to retain the Bier Singh trophy
Batting first Floodlights B made 179 for 8 off 20 overs. Mark Harold top-scoring with 47 not out and Wayne Jones 29 were the principal scorers.
Bowling for Scottsburg United L. Persaud took 3 for 23 and Joshua Garnett 2 for 18 off 4 overs. Scottsburg United 182 for 6 in the 18th overs with the left-handed Popo Chalitar hitting 8 sixes in his entertaining innings of 63 and he was well supported by Joshua Garnett who made 35 runs.
Medals were given to officials, umpires and all players of the three winning teams compliments of Rohan Auto Spares and plaques were donated to the sponsors by Steve Jewellery.
