Rural constable, Buxtonians catch two bandits

A rural constable and public-spirited citizens of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, yesterday apprehended two of three bandits who had minutes before robbed the employees of the Digicel outlet at Mon Repos, also on the East Coast Demerara.
Police reported that at about 12:15hours yesterday, three sales clerks at the Digicel Outlet were
attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The victim, Anthony Singh, 21, along with two female clerks, was in the building when the three men entered and held them at gunpoint. They were made to lie on the floor while the perpetrators took away an undisclosed sum of cash, a number of cell phones and a quantity of cell phone cards, and escaped in a waiting motor car, PHH 4904, driven by an accomplice.
Anthony Singh joined a taxi and followed the vehicle which headed into Buxton, along the Railway Embankment.
Singh subsequently stopped, but was approached by a Rural Constable attached to a Police Station in Georgetown who was in the vicinity. Upon being informed of the robbery, the Constable joined the taxi and continued the chase behind the bandits.
Recognizing that they were being followed, the bandits abandoned the vehicle and ran.
They were pursued by the Rural Constable and residents of the Buxton community. Two of them were apprehended and the other robber and the driver of the vehicle got away.
The owner of the vehicle used in the robbery is also in police custody.
