LEADING rifle shooter Ransford Goodluck bounced back into winners’ row when he secured victory in last Sunday’s Recorded Shoot at the Timehri Rifle Ranges as Guyana’s marksmen prepare for next month’s West Indies Fullbore championships in Barbados. Goodluck defied sizzling heat and tricky winds to record a match-winning score of 100 points with 10 V-bulls out of a highest possible score of 105.21 V.
He shot 34.3 at the 300 yards, 33.4 at 500 and 33.3 at 600 yards.
The other shooters failed to reach the 100 points mark in the absence of some of the other top shooters including fullbore captain Mahendra Persaud, vice-captain Dylan Fields and Richard Fields.
Second place went to Ryan Sampson who recorded 94 points with 6Vs with 32.3 at 30, 32.1 at 500 and 30.2 at 60.
Inspector Dane ‘Spooky’ Blair ended in  third position with 93.5.
Claude Duguid recorded 92.3 for fourth while Lt Col. Terry Stuart placed fifth and first among the ‘O’ Class shooters with a score of 90.4.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Slowe was sixth with 88.1.
Charles Deane placed second among the ‘O’ Class shooters with 86.5 followed by Peter Persaud with 85.4 and Rakesh Persaud with 80.2.
The Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) will stage another recorded shoot this weekend at the Timehri ranges as the local marksmen fine-tune preparations for the regional championships.
