The leadership of President Bharrat Jagdeo has transformed Guyana into a country that is internationally recognized for its role in finding a solution to the climate change trend.
Undoubtedly the inspiration of our Leader was enough to place Guyana on the world stage through his determined efforts to influence decision making among developed countries as it relates to possible solutions to this issue.
Recently Guyana was again put on the world stage with its admission into the Forest Eleven countries.
Mr. Editor the fact that a small developing country as ours could be so vibrant in its crusade to evoke policy changes in the developed world shows tremendous dedication on the part of its leader.
President Jagdeo remained resolute in ensuring that Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) is taken to the world. He was successful in doing so and not only was Guyana recognized for this but the President‘s vision was also noted as he was appointed by the United Nations to a panel to address financing for countries in the fight against climate change.
Guyana’s efforts are finally bearing fruits as our country now plays a leading role along with other rainforest countries which share our vision that rainforests are critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
