GROS-ISLET, St. Lucia, (CMC) – Lionel Baker helped Leeward Islands finish the season with a flourish, when he bowled them to a 10-wicket victory over the Combined Campuses & Colleges in the WICB regional first-class championship yesterday..

Baker ended with five wickets for 52 runs from 16 overs, as CCC were dismissed for 200 in their second innings about an hour before lunch on the third day of their seventh and final round match at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.
Baker ended with match figures of 13 for 83, after he wrecked CCC’s first innings with eight for 31. He finished the season with 23 wickets at 15.08 apiece to be the second most successful bowler for Leewards behind Omari Banks with 24.
Set 39 for victory, Leewards reached their target without losing a wicket about 40 minutes before the interval, when Kieran Powell pulled Kevin McClean for the last of his seven boundaries in 32 not out.
The result meant that Leewards finish the season in third place on 34 points, but CCC will only know their final position when the outstanding fixture between Guyana and Windward Islands comes to a conclusion. The CCC ended the season however, with 24 points.
Baker made an early breakthrough, when he had Ryan Austin caught behind for 24, after CCC resumed from their overnight total of 192 for six.
The Leewards fast bowler, eyeing a recall to the West Indies line-up, snuffed the life out of a CCC late charge, when he bowled Romel Currency for his opponents’ top score of 80.
Baker then had Kavesh Kantasingh caught behind for a duck before Wilden Cornwall brought the CCC innings to a close, when he trapped Guildford Moore lbw for a duck.
