Hidden agenda

I WAS taken aback when I saw a former close aide to the late President Desmond Hoyte named in another newspaper as an organiser of the planned protests in Bartica next week.

Are political elements attempting to further cloud the issues here as some big players in the mining sector are doing?

Something seems to be amiss and the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association, which claims to represent miners, should ensure that it is not being used by political elements in this game.

The mineral resources belong to all Guyanese and are not the preserve of some miners. But from the way some are opposing the changes the government wants to implement, it seems that they believe that they alone have a God-given right to these resources.
We need proper order in mining as we need in all sectors of society.
