GPH visitor charged with disorderly behaviour

A WOMAN visitor to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) continued her behaviour after one rank spoke to her and Police back-up had to be summoned to arrest her.

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson heard of the January 14 incident yesterday, when Daphne Rodney, 46, appeared in Court charged with behaving disorderly at a public place.

The defendant pleaded not guilty and her case was transferred to another Court, for February 9, after she was allowed $10,000 bail.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said Rodney was at the Maternity Ward and a security guard rebuked her but, despite the caution, she maintained the conduct and more Police ranks had to be called.

After Defence Counsel Mohammed Zafar said the defendant was remonstrating with her son-in-law, for not taking clothes to her daughter who had just delivered a baby, the Prosecutor said that issue should have been dealt with elsewhere.
