Six hurt in two-car collision

SIX persons were injured when a taxi and a private car collided at Klien, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, about 20:00 h on Tuesday.

The driver of HB 4356, from the fleet of Top Notch Taxi Service that is based at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, was transporting three passengers, including Nadira Ramlakhan and her three-year-old son, Navin, who suffered facial bruises and lacerations.

In the other car, PGG 1109, was the driver, Azim Abrahim and passengers Davindra Seepersaud and a uniformed policeman (no name given).

It was alleged that occupants of one of the vehicles had been consuming alcohol and bottles had been thrown out of it before the Police arrived and saw shards of broken glass amongst the debris.

Those with injuries were speedily rushed for treatment at West Demerara Regional Hospital where worried relatives waited for news about the victims.

However, there were no fatalities and the most serious injury was on a man who took 70 stitches on his head. (Michelle Gonsalves)
