Glen Khan to speak at Miami Conference on the Caribbean

Twenty-eight-Chairman of the Laparkan Group of Companies Mr. Glen Khan is among an impressive list of private sector and government leaders to speak at this year’s Miami Conference on the Caribbean which opens here on Monday.

The annual meeting, which brings together officials from the Caribbean basin, the United States and Canada, is being held as governments and the private sector grapple with the effects of a global economic recession. One of the key areas of focus at this year’s confab is the Caribbean region’s transportation sector and Mr. Khan will be among the panelists who will lead the discussions on issues affecting this sector.

Among the issues to be discussed is the importance of the easy movement of goods to the region’s development and continuous growth of the region as a major hub for global trade. Acknowledging this requires investment in and commitment to infrastructure and policies that increase the region’s competitiveness. The transportation panel will examine operational and policy impediments and make recommendations for improving efficiencies in this critical sector.

Other members of the panel are Phillip Allen of Port Everglades, Michael Poole of the Jacksonville Port Authority, Clive Forbes of the Caribbean Shipping Association and Francisco Santeiro of Fedex Corporation.
