Two women detained in actor Fraser murder probe

TWO women have been held by Police investigating the brutal murder of local stage actor Joel Fraser nicknamed ‘Sweets’, 40.

The suspects were arrested yesterday morning and are in custody.

The bloodied body of Fraser was found early Wednesday morning by joggers on the seawall at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, with the throat slit and multiple stab wounds.

His laptop computer, bag, jewels and other personal effects, including his pants, were missing and his brief was pulled down.

Fraser starred in the Maria Benschop production ‘Nothing to Laugh About and was last seen alive at National Cultural Centre (NCC) where he attended a rehearsal.

Acting for more than ten years, he also sells ground provisions and vegetables, at Bourda Market, in Georgetown.
His unlawful killing left family, friends and theatre colleagues shocked.
