Windies comfortable with review system – Williams

BRISBANE, Australia (CMC) – West Indies coach David Williams has given his full endorsement to the umpire’s Decision Review System, and says his side is comfortable with the use of the innovation.

“Our players know what the system is about and how the system works, so we have no issues with it,” Williams said.

“Once things come into the game which can make it better I am all for it. We have had meetings where we looked at how the system is to be used and we believe we fully understand the details. I believe the use of technology is good for cricket. It can only help.”

Following extensive trials, the system was used for the first time officially in the first Test between New Zealand and Pakistan in Dunedin which started Tuesday.

The system, which allows players to challenge umpires’ rulings, will also be utilised in the three-Test series between Australia and West Indies starting today.
