THE Chronicle editorial “LAWLESSNESS in Guyana is endemic and proliferates in every sphere of human activity in this country.” was most welcome and long overdue. They correctly pointed out that unless we make persons accountable for their actions and identify and chastise the miscreants demoralising our society we would continue to spiral downwards within an amoral frame.
The majority of Guyanese blessed with good sense and courage must stand up to the misinformation and racial politics continuously pedaled by the naysayers and political opportunists. No sane person can believe that all problems and crimes committed are caused by marginalisation and government mismanagement, and that an opposition party will magically fix everything. Power sharing starts with positive participation and looking in the mirror if we are to progress faster and better. It is time for all Guyanese to step up the fight against lawlessness.
