Mother of two charged with fraudulent misappropriation

– released on $60,000 bail
A MOTHER of two was on Monday released on $60,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with fraudulent misappropriation.

Natasha Corbin, 35, of Lot 560 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that, on October 6, 2007, at Brickdam, being entrusted by Gloria Khan with two cell phones valued $60,000, in order that she may retain them into her custody, she fraudulently converted them to her own use.

Attorney-at-law Mrs. Simone Morris-Ramlall said Corbin is an Avon Representative and a part-time Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) employee.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was a prisoner at Brickdam and she handed over the cell phones, along with other items, to Corbin to keep.

He said Corbin failed to hand over the phones.

The case will be called again on November 9. (Telesha Persaud)
