-Seven ATVs handed over On Friday, seven ATVs which cost in excess of $14M were handed over by Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai to Toshaos of Regions One, Eight and Nine. “We are very pleased to announce that this year we are able to, not complete, but to add to the fleet of ATVs that have already been handed over prior to this year,” noted Minister Sukhai. To date, Region Eight has been provided with a total of 28 ATVs since it consists of rough terrain and trails and is the most difficult region to access. (GINA)
Government has prioritised improving transportation in the country, especially in hinterland areas; and President Jagdeo’s promise in 2005 to the Regions in this regard is gradually being fulfilled.
